I thought long and hard before posting this video… Because I knew some people would say, “He’s just doing it for views,” or “He’s exaggerating for fame.” But I decided to share it anyway because my goal has always been to be authentic and to show the reality of my climbs… especially Everest. If you asked me when I was the most scared during my Everest expedition, it was this exact moment. This video was taken at Camp 4 after spending an entire night trying to survive hypothermia with Purna. I was completely out of it. Around 5:00 a.m., @purna__lopchan came to me and said: “No more oxygen left… what do we need to do now?” After almost three days with virtually no sleep, barely any food, and more than 48 hours spent in the Death Zone, I wasn’t even fully aware of what was happening anymore. In the video, I say that I had been in the Death Zone for three days, but the truth is that I had completely lost track of time. I couldn’t think clearly anymore. A few hours after this video was taken, we started our descent toward Camp 2 with very little oxygen left and more than 10 hours of descending ahead of us. Looking back now, this was the moment I truly wondered if I was ever going to make it home.
